remembering the pride and excitement, so we can get it back
so this morning, i was looking through my lengthy list of quotes and i came across this:
"There's new energy to harness, new jobs to be created, new schools to build, and threats to meet, alliances to repair. The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even in one term. But, America, I have never been more hopeful than tonight that we will get there. I promise you, we as a people will get there. There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won't agree with every decision or policy I make as president. And we know the government can't solve every problem. But I will be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And, above all, I will ask you to join in the work of remaking this nation, the only way it has been done in America for 221 years---block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand"
- President-Elect Barack Obama (election victory speech before being sworn in as President)
i don't know what the President's speech writer has been up to lately, but it has been since his naacp address that i felt so inspired by his words. this is the type of inspiration and encouragement we need to regain and remember as we keep fighting to right the ship. i have complete faith in the President, and i can only wait eagerly until his speeches regain that fire and dedication that they once had. i know you can do it!!!
on another note, this is the kind of words that should motivate us all each morning as we start our days, 'the road will be long, our climb will be steep'---learn to love the journey, learn to embrace the struggle, learn to be happy with moving towards the goal (not just crossing the finish line); because the reality is that there is no finish line. it keeps moving to bigger and better things as you get closer and cross the damn thing!!!
keep striving to be the best everyday. mastery and greatness!!! let's go.
